Let’s Get Physical

People living with a mental illness and people with substance use, addiction, and/or other complex conditions have a lower life expectancy than the rest of the population. People are dying earlier from heart disease, stroke, cancer, and other preventable conditions, largely due to inequalities in health and social care outcomes experienced by these often neglected and marginalised groups of people. We would like to invite you to attend the Gwent leg of our exciting summer campaign, Let’s Get Physical, at the Congress Theatre in Cwmbran on 23rd August 2024. This year, our campaign is all about physical health! We want to shout about the wide-reaching benefits good physical health provides, and support people to improve their own physical wellbeing in whatever way they are able to.  We would like to welcome service providers, commissioners, and all those who have an interest in ensuring physical health has parity of esteem with mental health to our launch event. All attendees will have the opportunity to have a 10-minute physical health check carried out by trained staff and have access to an interactive health check tool. There will also be a range of information and advice available relating to nutrition, physical activity, and how to generally be healthier, a variety of demonstrations, and a series of fun, engaging activities that people can chose to take part in. Lunch will be provided, as well as refreshments throughout the day. To read more about the campaign, please see the attached rationale. If you would like to attend, please click here, and book your place via our Eventbrite page. The event is free of charge. We look forward to seeing you all there!
